Position played a key strategic role in prototyping an extensive community network site in order to expand Classmates beyond high school. Developed a brand architecture in order for other United Online’s business holdings to wrap up to a cohesive brand system. Role also includes responsibility for multi-channel campaigns, content updates, comps and prototypes for advertiser presentations, print projects, email products, viral games, etc. Since the launch of the redesign in August 05, user activity, page views and paid subscriptions have significantly increased with record revenue. • Cultivating and organizing a stable of design talent inside and outside the company • Negotiating scope, schedule and results with business owners and plugging in the resources needed to get the job done on time and on budget with minimal friction • Help implement and maintain corporate design philosophy and standards by providing art direction and mentoring of Creative Team staff • Defined the Classmates online brand personality, positioning and style, including the creation of a branding and design style guide CREATIVE DIRECTOR Virgin Travel Group, London UK April 2002 to October 2003 Managed and provided creative direction for a team of designers, writers and ASP programmers for Virgin’s consumer, business and wholesale travel websites. Position was to provide leadership in the architecture, structure, interaction design and branding for all of the five sites managed by Virgin Travelstore, as well as oversight of all off-line advertising. Virgin grew from ranking 28th in travel within the UK to the top 10, as well as tripling sales for 2003. Project entailed producing site maps, user flows, wireframes and client presentations. Role required collaborating with project managers, designers and developers at the agency as well as with the client. Since its launch, traffic has increased over 40%. DESIGN DIRECTOR Flutter.com / Betfair.com, London UK March 2001 to January 2002 Manager for a team of designers, information architects, technical designers and front-end developers for a leading UK person-to-person sports betting site. The new interface stimulated an increase in turnover from £650,000 per week to £3 million and an increase in market share from 7% to 30% within five weeks of launch. • Developed diagrams, prototypes and page layouts to create a next-generation interface • Produced GUI requirements by designing an interface that would encourage user interaction by focusing on efficiency for experienced users and assistance for novice users • Last project was designing a Hong Kong Chinese localized version before the company merged with a competitor, making it the largest betting site in the UK now worth £2 billion LEAD INFORMATION ARCHITECT Siegel & Gale, Los Angeles / San Francisco CA October 1998 to February 2001 Lead position to recommend and apply Human Factors, HCI and user-centered design concepts to interactive projects for a leading branding, strategy and design consultancy.
